Our Rhossili Holiday Cottages
Kimley Moor Farm Cottages, Rhossili, has been in our family since 1714. It was intensively farmed using local labour and the 140 acres produced market garden crops of potatoes, cauliflower, cabbage and swede as well as corn and hay to feed the cattle and sheep. Over the years modern machinery has replaced local labour.
Kimley Moor Farm was originally part of an estate until 1950, when the estate was sold, farmers were given the opportunity to buy their farms.
My grandmother made her own butter in the dairy using the butter churn which is in Butterslade Cottage. She took it to Swansea market to sell along with other produce grown on the Kimley Moor. The horse collars and bridles which are displayed in the cottages, were the originals on the working horses Bess and Nelly, the plough they pulled is also still here on Kimley Moor Farm.
